On the road again 2019

It’s been 10 short months back in Brisbane and we start our journey from Brisbane airport to London Heathrow, with a couple of nights break in Singapore. You can just make out Brisbane City in the background.

A little light breakfast in the lounge before take off

We had a pretty average flight up to Singapore. Why are most of the Qantas staff so miserable. Lucky we had the breakfast in the lounge because Qantas must be trying to save money every way they can. Average food, little alcohol and very slow service. We had a nice quiet time in Singapore. Been here many times so no photo’s.

Boarded with Singapore airlines and what a complete contrast. The Ladies on board couldn’t have done enough for us. We had 3 seats for Amanda and 2 seats for me. (Happy days). We had to stop the Gin and Tonics coming. Well to be truthful, Amanda did and I kept accepting their generous attention. During a long conversation with one of the lovely Ladies looking after us, I’d mentioned it was our 40th wedding anniversary this year and hey presto, half an hour later, 3 young ladies arrived with champagne, cake, some smoking concoction (dry ice flowing around the tray) with a congrats card they had made and 2 little cuddly Singapore Airways bears, We usually travel Etihad but maybe we will change.

An overnight stay in Heathrow and we picked up a hire car and drove North.

First stop was to catch up with Austin and Lynn in Croft near Warrington. They showed us great hospitality and we thoroughly enjoyed our overnight with them. We walked round to their local for a few pints and met their lovely buddies before a great meal cooked by Lynn.

From there it was up to Lytham to pick up Pinot. Do a big shop and pick up some bits and pieces…a new Hoover vacuum, a new iron for Amanda (don’t judge Caroline) new mattress topper and a hand blender. We then found a great spot close by for the next few nights so we could visit friends and get ourselves sorted. We parked in Rigby’s Farmhouse in Warton. Electric hookup and fresh water for FREE if we had dinner with them (otherwise it was only 5 pound plus electric) Highly recommended. Plus it’s very close to one of our old haunts, The Grapes at Wrea Green, so we had to pop over for a pint..

Pinot and our hire car and the owner of the farm even gave us cones lol……not sure why really as there was no-one else there but I felt obliged since he’d given me them.

We had a smashing dinner with Pete and June the following evening at The Birley Arms. Great company as always and nice to catch up again.

Next day we caught up with one of our oldest and dearest friends Denise. Thanks for the washing Denise 😉 We had a nice lunch at a Farmshop at Roseacre.

So a very sociable few days around Lancashire before we take off again. Note to self after writing this first post and reviewing the pictures…….less food and booze and more walking and cycling.

Xx A and A
